The Herald is an organization devoted to teaching hard skills and fostering community, and we pride ourselves on our training of staff members and culture of mentorship. We are committed to growing our staff as people, thinkers and leaders so they can use these skills for the rest of their careers. Former Heralders currently work at top organizations in media, consulting, finance, tech and the nonprofit sector.
Anyone can start at The Herald at any point in the semester (or their college careers!) — time commitments for all starting roles are flexible, and students are welcome to try different positions and sections, with most positions not requiring applications.

The Herald is financially independent from Brown, and the daily operations of the organization are managed entirely by students. Each year, the Business Team is responsible for generating and managing over $100,000 in operating expenses and ensuring a stable financial future for the Herald. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Brown Daily Herald business branch is tasked with generating revenue to support all of our operations, managing financial challenges, and orchestrating all of our financial accounting.
Because of its small size, the BDH Business Team has an application process. Applicants must attend one of two information sessions in the beginning of the semester, and subsequently complete a short written application. Applicants can choose to apply for either team or both. Final interviews will then be conducted and all applicants will be notified in October.
Please fill out our interest form. For more information, come to our open house early February — dates will be listed once they are finalized.
Please email herald@browndailyherald.com with specific questions or for more information. We hope to see you soon!
